IDC is comprised of people with a wide variety of backgrounds. One of our greatest advantages is our ability to recruit new talent rapidly through our partnerships with universities. Below you'll find a listing of individuals who have been with the company for some time now and what roles they play.


Michael Anthony Orlando Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer of the Interdisciplinary Design Collaborative LLC, a unique research and development company he founded in 2008. His duties as CEO are those of overseeing the strategic direction of the company, coordinating new business opportunity efforts and oversight of the executive board. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering and another in Electrical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2009. Previous to his current engagements, he spent two years serving as the director of a university-owned technical production group that provided audio/visual support and equipment to events in the region. From early in his life, Mr. Orlando was interested in many science and engineering topics ranging the gamut from design to computers, machines to programming, and acoustics to photography. These diverse interests have guided him to create a company that embraces collaborators with a wide variety of specialties and the entrepreneurial spirit. His current pursuit of a Master’s degree in Engineering Management and professional certificates in both Project Management and Human Systems Integration speak to his more recent interest in management philosophy and application in the real world.


As of October 2008 RJ Miller has served IDC as it’s Chief Administrative Officer. His duties with the company include organization and administration of personnel as well as recruiting, product evangelism. RJ is the team lead for matters involving IDC's seed-stage funding. As a recent graduate of Missouri S&T RJ received his undergraduate education in Interdisciplinary Engineering with an emphasis in Architectural and Environmental Engineering. RJ brings a unique mix of skills to IDC including Construction and Environmental Engineering including Green Building techniques and practices, sustainable design and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) compliance knowledge. RJ also has a background in elite customer service including expertise in Mobil and AAA service standards. RJ is currently pursuing his Graduate degree in Engineering Management at S&T with a focus on Project Management and research in the United States Green Building Council’s LEED program and its implementation in the Midwest.


Serving as IDC’s Director of New Business since July 2010, Quentin Ortega started with IDC in 2009 as a Business Consultant. In his position, Quentin works with all divisions of the company to help them choose the best possible projects, assists in the selection of new employees, and helps manage the day-to-day operations of the company. As a recent graduate of Missouri S&T with an undergraduate education in Management and Information Systems and a Minor in Economics, Quentin brings many business skills to IDC’s engineering focused teams. Further, his knowledge in the intellectual property field assists IDC in helping clients with their designs. Quentin is currently pursuing his MBA at Missouri S&T while also pursuing his passion of working as an agent/manager in the music industry.


At IDC, Tim Huff is one of the chief computer programmers designing and constructing one of the IDC's products. As a child in Missouri at the early age of 11, he became passionate about programming, a passion that has carrie d on to the present day. From Missouri, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, where he graduated from a small high school in 2007 and went on to enroll in the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. He then transferred to the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2009 and is currently in his fourth year on his way to complete his bachelor's degree in computer science. Throughout his life, he found interests in a wide range of topics including, amongst others, playing the piano piano, audio, cooking, drawing and painting, mathematics, longboarding, and physics. Wherever his interests took him, however, he always found himself coming back to the keyboard to marvel at the power of computing machinery and push the limits of his programming abilities.


Bryan Glass began leading research into renewable energy technologies and adaptive building energy management in 2008. He has authored papers on both subjects, and consulted for various national and global companies. After collaborating on multiple grants with IDC, Bryan formally joined the company in December 2009 to facilitate further work on various Cleantech projects. He currently leads efforts on custom building automation and sensoring, simulation environments, and symbiotic renewable energy generation. Bryan is certified in Lean Six Sigma as well as on various automation platforms.


Chase Holland is a mobile app programmer for IDC, focusing mainly in iPhone and iPad development. His past projects include Dow in Gold and Image Downloader. Chase began his career with the company through an iPhone development class in the Fall of 2009 and later signed on for contract work. He is currently a sophomore pursuing a degree in computer science at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Although computers are the focus of his future, Chase is also a multi-instrumentalist playing primarily drum set and percussion and has contributed to a few app soundtracks. On top of classes and app programming, Chase is also the current facilitator of long standing residential life tradition, TJ Assassins.


A recent graduate of Missouri S&T with a degree in Engineering Management and a degree in progress as a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Project Management, Paul Parham works as a Project Manager for IDC. Paul has been with IDC since 2008 and is currently heading the company’s first commercially available consumer product, which should be launched soon so stay tuned. Paul is active both on and off campus and has recently served as a Residential Assistant, Graduate Research Assistant and an internship in the Knowledge Management department at Fort Leonard wood.

Kenneth Perry's Bio


Kenneth Perry is IDC’s the Lead Developer. Referred to as “Genius” by many in our office, his past achievements include completing development for IDC’s iPhone apps such as BarcodeScan, Made In America, St. Pat’s Daze, Memory Matches, Zebra Tunes, as well as other third party contracted apps. Kenneth also hosted a class for learning Objective-C and iOS development through IDC at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He prefers working in C++, but can tackle projects in Objective-C, C, Ruby, Python, PHP and Java, among others. An everyday user of Mac OS X and Linux, he is also comfortable using Windows technologies as well as Qt, CMake, OpenGL, PGSQL, BSD Sockets and other wonderful development tools. He is working toward a master’s degree in Computer Science at Missouri S&T in the area of software compilers. He holds a Bachelors degree from the same institution. Kenneth likes to play video games and watch anime in his free time. He has been an undergraduate researcher with the Design Engineering Lab and has worked on several software development projects such as FunctionCAD (a functional modeling design tool), and the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition robot “MAX”.

Derek Welty's Bio


Derek Welty is a graphic designer for IDC working on iPhone and Android development, as well as other contract work. His past projects include Peg Board and Circle of Death for the iPhone. His career with the company began in Fall 2010. He is currently pursuing his undergraduate in Electrical Engineering at Missouri S&T. Derek is actively involved on campus and currently serves as the Promotions Director for the Student Union Board and the Photo Editor for the school paper. As a graphic designer for IDC, Derek strives to provide stunning visuals that will enhance the quality of any project that he is working on.


Jonathan Leek is a Creative Specialist for IDC, and is currently focused on game design for iOS and Android devices. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and 6 years working in Residential Life at both Missouri S&T and Fontbonne University, he decided to become a full-time employee of IDC. He is well-respected for his creative brainstorming and problem-solving, and is quick to learn knew technologies and skills. In addition to camera and video editing work, Jonathan served as game designer for Pegboard, Circle of Death, Up!, and Shatter! for the iOS and Android families of devices, and he has many more in the works.

Jonathan also has experience in security design, leadership development, project management, science education, and is a passable juggler.


Katie Bryant was brought on in May 2011 to join the marketing team. She aids in the task of developing marketing plans, implementing said plans, and working with a team to make decisions on future project selections. Katie has recently completed her Business and Management Systems degree from Missouri S&T where she was involved in a plethora of activities during her enrollment. She was extremely active with the Miner League Theatre Players and even served two terms as president of the theatre fraternity.


Nathan is one of IDC's software developers, focusing on web frameworks for now.  He is a second year PhD student in Computer Science at Missouri S&T, where he got his Bachelors in both Computer Science and Physics.  He primarily uses C/C++ and Python in his work, but is comfortable using Perl, Bash, Java, and a little bit of Lisp (and others).  He can also leverage the power of several frameworks, and avidly believes in the "right tool for the job" mentality.  He is studying computer languages, compilers, and high performance computing.  Outside of the computing world, Nathan is an active member of the Missouri S&T Miner League Theatre Players, plays video games, and enjoys singing and playing piano.  He is currently a GTA in the Computer Science department.
