Digital Media Convergance

The Digital Media Convergence System is designed to combine all types of digital media into a metered, open, scalable and extensible service.

Energy Conscience

One major barrier to energy efficient behavior by residential occupants is intuitively informing them of their energy utilization characteristics. Current systems that approach this need are both difficult and expensive to install and maintain. The objective of the Phase One is to research and develop logic and algorithms that are to be used to manage and control a home more efficiently, including: energy conservation (electricity, heat, sunlight, wind, etc.), water conservation, and improvement in indoor environmental quality. Analyzing home usage data to extract possible ways to conserve energy will develop the logic. The offeror will provide researchers with familiarity of current systems and trends in energy monitoring. They will develop a system with accommodations for future needs, which is scalable and open to additional development. After completion of Phase One, the offeror will have intellectual property describing the system and its software interface.  By enabling consumers to understand their energy usage they could expend less energy and therefore great savings can be realized. Aggregate data from the systems can also be used to develop next generation devices that cater exactly to the requirements of residential consumers.

St. Pat's Daze

St. Pat's Daze was created for the Missouri S&T annual "Best Ever St. Pats" celebration.  The tradition has been happening for over 100 years and a big part of the school year is the "Daze Countdown."  This app is centered around that as the daze are displayed and, in true tradition, yelled at the user.

Speaker Tester

The speaker tester is designed to provide a variable volume pink noise signal through NL-4, NL-8, and TRS connectors with selectable output channels for testing professional loudspeakers.

Zebra Tunes

Zebra Tunes allows music fans to use the iPhone’s built in camera to scan a CD’s UPC barcode and see if it is available on the iTunes Music Store for previewing or purchasing. After aligning the barcode to the onscreen indicators, the barcode is interpreted and results are displayed in a list with the artist name, album title, and album artwork. Clicking on any one will open Apple’s iTunes app for downloading or previewing tracks and full albums. Optimized for speed, Zebra Tunes uses Occipital’s RedLaser Component Toolkit which supports iPhone OS 3.1 and higher, and will work on the original iPhone, 3G, 3Gs, and  essentially any future Cocoa Touch powered devices that support iPhone OS 3.1 and higher. There is no need for a macro lens or autofocus device with Zebra tunes. Zebra Tunes can be found on the app store at http://www.itunes.com/apps/zebratunes.
